How Our One-Week Brand Identity Design Process Works

Let's pull up a chair and have a little chat. If you’re down, I want to talk straight about one of the biggest assumptions in the branding world:

Good strategy takes a ton of time.

I’m not sure why, but the world of business owners and entrepreneurs somehow collectively got the impression that if something is custom, strategic, and high-quality, it must also take forever (otherwise it’s not custom, strategic, or high-quality).

When I tell people that my signature brand identity design service (The Full Flame – go ahead and take a peek!) happens in one focused work week, I usually get one of two reactions.

  • The first: Excitement.

  • The inevitable second: Suspicion.

“Doesn't good branding take months??"

The truth is, it absolutely doesn’t have to. It’s a total myth (and there are plenty of brand design myths, trust me).

If you’ve got a dialed process in place, that’s not necessary.

If you've ever looked into working with a brand designer before, you've probably seen timelines ranging anywhere from four weeks to four months.

And after seeing that enough times, it's easy to assume that a long timeline automatically means a better result. Just like a higher price point often triggers our brains to assume you’re getting something better (maybe you are, but also…maybe you aren’t).

After designing brands for years, I've realized something: Most branding projects aren't long because great design takes months; they’re long because things pop up and occupy time.

I’ll dive into that and so much more. All you have to do? Keep reading this blog – we’re talkin’ process, details, and specifics on how my Full Flame Brand Build actually works (AKA, you’ll get a day-by-day breakdown so you can see for yourself.

Why Do So Many Brand Identity Design Services Take So Long?

The branding process – in my experience – doesn’t usually take time because of a lack of creativity or because time is essential to the “process.” Usually, it’s because the timeline hasn’t been finessed properly.

Think about a typical timeline of a brand design project. You have a call. Your designer sends concepts. You review. Something pops up in your schedule. Eventually, you share feedback. Your designer sees it. Something pops up in their schedule. They make changes. They send it to you for review. And the process goes on and on and on.

A huge chunk of that time is spent on stuff like:

  • Waiting for feedback

  • Designers juggling multiple projects

  • Long gaps between revisions

  • A lot of "let me think about it for a few days" moments that turn into weeks

  • A process that wasn't built to keep moving with the creative momentum

Or any combination of things like that.

Suddenly, before you know it, it’s been six weeks, and your brand identity service project is still “in progress.” In that scenario, only a handful of days have been actual creative strategy work – the rest of the mess was communication, revisions, scheduling, and feedback.

This is no knock on other designers or on busy entrepreneurs.

But this really got me thinking – what if we stopped offering design services that revolve around waiting and long chunks of time?

What if, instead, we harnessed momentum and focus as the center of our design process?

That’s where The Full Flame Brand Build fits in.

Why Offer a Brand-In-a-Week Service?

What I’ve noticed over the years of designing brands is that the best work happens when both myself and the client are focused and totally absorbed in the project.

Ideas flow, conversations are fresh, and the creativity is electric.

And most importantly, we're building on decisions and ideas we talked about yesterday instead of trying to remember why we picked that direction three weeks ago.

In my opinion, momentum is a really underrated creative tool. Focusing a service on a full work week – and nothing more – helps us to:

  • Keep the creative momentum ablaze so ideas build on each other instead of getting lost between long gaps.

  • Make decisions while everything is still fresh, rather than trying to remember why you loved (or hated) something three weeks ago.

  • Stay fully immersed in your business instead of constantly context-switching between projects and emails.

  • Reduce decision fatigue by tackling your brand in one focused sprint instead of dragging it out over months.

  • Launch with confidence faster, so you can stop sitting in branding limbo and start showing up consistently.

That’s why my one-week brand identity design experience gives your business a completely custom visual identity based on curated strategy without dragging the process out for weeks on end.

Wanna see how it works? Let's pull back the curtain and take a peek.

Here’s a Peek at the Full Flame Brand Build Schedule

Curious about what a brand-design-in-a-week service looks and feels like? Here’s my clear schedule and (very) transparent process.

Monday: Strat Kickoff Call & Moodboard Approval

The best brand design starts with strategy. And this is super important to mention, because we’re not just willy-nilly picking brand colors and poppin’ into Adobe Illustrator to recreate something you loved on Pinterest.

Strategy is about understanding you, your business, your goals, your dynamic changes, your people, your product, your service – all of it.

Before I draw a single line, we kick things off with a Brand Strategy Call where we dig into things like:

  • Who you're trying to attract

  • How you want people to feel

  • Where your business is headed

  • What makes you different

  • Where your current branding is falling flat

If you’ve got a brand that just looks nice – that’s just one piece of the puzzle. Your visual identity should do a whole lot more than just sit pretty on a page.

Moodboards: Finding Your Visual Direction

After strategy comes one of my favorite parts: moodboard discovery.

This is where we explore possibilities together. The important disclaimer here is that you do not have to arrive at our strategy call with a full inspo board of ideas. You can, but it’s not necessary.

Truly, sometimes clients arrive with a Pinterest board that's overflowing with inspiration. Others show up with absolutely nothing.

Both are perfectly fine.

Creative direction is my job – and it’s one I take very seriously.

We'll narrow down visual styles, typography, illustration inspiration, colors, and overall personality until we're both crystal clear on the direction before design even begins.

If we sort through all of that first, it saves us a ton of revisions later.

Tuesday & Wednesday: Full-On Design Mode

For two full days, your business gets my complete creative attention – no bouncing between six different client projects, ghosting you for a week, or leaving you wondering if I’m working on your brand.

While this is happening, I'm building your entire brand identity design system.

That always includes:

  • A hand-drawn logo suite with multiple logo variations

  • Custom font pairings

  • A personalized colour palette

  • Business card design

  • Brand direction that feels cohesive from top to bottom

Every decision comes back to the strategy we established on day one.

Wednesday: The Brand Pitch

This is the moment everyone (myself included) waits for. Instead of sending over a folder of random logo files and saying, "Hope you like them!"

I walk you through the whole pitch on a call so you can get a feel for everything. I’ll explain every design choice.

Why this typography? Why these colours? Why this illustration style? We’ll talk through how every element connects back to your business.

It’s not just a design and ditch – I’ll give you a full, strategic background on the choices made. When you understand why something was designed the way it was, it becomes so much easier to confidently use your new brand.

Thursday: Collaboration Time

Here's something I love to tell people: The first presentation isn't the end of our process. It’s the beginning! Consider it the conversation starter.

The day after I deliver brand concepts to you is dedicated to revisions, questions, tweaks, and collaboration.

So, maybe the hand-drawn logo is perfect, but you'd love to explore another color option. An illustration might need a tiny adjustment.

Or maybe (and this is my favorite) you have an idea that wasn't obvious until you saw everything together.

Brand identity design is all about a collaborative effort where I get to guide you toward what feels right for your brand.

Here’s what it’s not supposed to feel like: You, crossing your fingers, hoping the designer magically read your mind because they didn’t ask you anything.

Friday: Delivery & Everything You Need to Use Your Brand

One of the issues I have with the design industry is that, sometimes, designers deliver a brand identity and then *poof* – they disappear.

Branding doesn't end when the design is approved! Your designer should walk you through everything, send over all your elements in a tidy structure, and teach you how to use your new identity.

That's why every Full Flame project wraps up with:

  • Final logo files in every format you'll need

  • Your custom colour palette

  • Font recommendations

  • A mini brand guidelines cheat sheet

  • Business card design

  • Support so you actually know how to use everything

Your branding is supposed to make running your business easier!

But if you have a designer who does a design-and-ditch, you’re going to be stuck wondering which logo file you're supposed to upload. (And trust me, that’s harder).

The Full Flame Brand Build: Why It Exists

I created this brand identity service for two main reasons:

  1. I think momentum is a super under-utilized tool for creative design

  2. I was so tired of seeing branding projects drag on forever when they didn’t have to

Business owners like you are already wearing a hundred different hats. You shouldn’t have to be project manager of your brand identity while the project sits in limbo for two months.

A Few Signs The Full Flame is Right For You

Are you thinking this sounds like a good fit for your brand identity needs but aren’t totally sold on the format yet? Trust me, there will be signs.

Here’s what I always tell my prospective clients. The Full Flame is perfect for you if you’re:

  • Down for a rad visual identity, but have no idea where to even start

  • Sick of chaos-grabbing random colours, fonts, & iterations of DIY logos

  • Craving feeling confident and consistent with your brand’s visual identity

  • Desperate for branding that sparks the eyes, attention, & interest of your ideal client

  • You want a cohesive brand without waiting months for it

Maybe you’re starting from scratch. Maybe you’ve been in biz for years. If you’re craving confidence, consistency, and a custom identity, this brand design service is for you.
